We all know the power of self-care and practicing self compassion and how it can positively affect our mental, physical and emotional health.
The sun transits Gate 36 (March 13-17th, 2024)! We are always given the opportunity to dive deeper into this compassion energy and if you have this defined in your chart, really work with this gift!
If you don't have this colored in on your chart...guess what? You still embody this energy, it's just not consistent and can depend on who you're around and the sun. Learn more about all of this in House of Light, Love and Human Design.
Self-compassion is the ability to show yourself kindness and understanding in times of stress, emotional highs+lows and while with others in their highs and lows.
Research has shown that self-compassion can be even more beneficial than self-care when it comes to stress reduction and wellbeing. I believe that a self compassion practice should be in your self care tool belt. Gosh this has been hard for me in the past, but once I started to become aware of this and started doing the work...wowza! I see and feel the difference!
Let's explore ways to show self compassion in a modern world so you can cultivate greater acceptance and understanding towards yourself. So, if you're ready to learn how to be kinder to yourself and cultivate an attitude of self-acceptance, then read on.
1. Talk kindly to yourself. Use words of support and acceptance. What are two things you can say to yourself today on repeat? Do you actually believe them? What are the steps for you to believe?
2. Give yourself permission to take a break. Take a few moments to just breathe and focus on the present moment. What is your relationship with rest? You may need to heal this.
3. Remind yourself of your value and strength. You have the power to overcome challenges and move forward. Keep a list of all you ways you are so valuable. Talk to yourself positively over and over again daily and even in the mirror. It takes creating new mindset pathways.
4. Spend time with people who bring out the best in you. Connect with people who encourage and uplift you. Remind yourself of what YOU bring to the table in the relationship too. This one is a huge one for me.
5. Get creative and express yourself. Find ways to express your emotions in a healthy way.
6. Find joy and beauty in the little things. Take time to appreciate the world around you. I love going for walks and beauty hunting.
7. Spend time outside, in nature. Spend time in nature to connect with something larger than yourself and find peace. Walking for me is resting. It settles my thoughts the best.
8. Practice mindfulness and meditation. Spend time focusing on your breath and calming your mind. I've gotten to a point in my breathwork practice now that it literally feels like home inside my body after about 5 minutes of breathwork.
9. Exercise and move your body. Exercise can help to release tension, stress and increase endorphins. If you know me...you know I love my movement!
10. Give yourself a break and forgive yourself. We all make mistakes, so it’s important to forgive yourself....and an add on-remind yourself you're perfectly on time right now. You're not too late!
